When you visit us you'll
see the lighting laboratory™ where you can learn about the differences
among various light sources (referred to in the trade as lamps,
not bulbs) and fixtures (referred to as
luminaires). And you'll see some interesting (and surprising)
energy-efficient products and lighting methods.
| You'll
see a wide variety of energy-efficient lamps (bulbs). Many people
are used to seeing Compact-fluorescent
lamps, but have you seen Electrodeless-compact-fluorescents?
(They're much smaller, brighter, and longer-lasting than conventional
compact-fluorescents.) Or Electronic
fluorescents? Or Halogen-I.R.s?
(They're the energy-efficient successor to halogens.) Or Metal-halide
lamps? Or Krypton-filled incandescents?
The list goes on, and we have them! We even do what's known
in the industry as daylighting
- daytime illumination using mirror-systems and lightpipes to
bring natural light indoors. |

You'll see what can be
done by exploiting beam-control
through the use of special lamp envelopes, reflectors, diffusers,
louvers, Fresnel lenses, uniaxial lenses, and biaxial lenses. All
of these are designed to do one thing: get light where it belongs.

Finally, you'll see some
wonderful energy-saving options for lighting
control. For example, occupancy-sensing
dimmers that turn lights off if you forget. And
full-control dimmers that allow dimming from multiple
locations and "sunset" (slowly dim) lights when you are going to
bed. Or daylight-compensating electronic
timers that daily adjust "on" or "off" times for seasonal
changes in sunrise and sunset.
