LIGHTING DESIGN

As many clients have learned the hard way, there's more to selecting lamps and fixtures than choosing by their appearance. In addition to aesthetics, there's the issue of function.

Lighting design is the simple, but methodical, analysis of lighting performance needs. Once lighting techniques are chosen to meet performance needs, product-appearance is matched to aesthetic needs. As a result, the completed lighting design serves both function and aesthetics in a balanced way.

Our lighting-design conference area is where we work with clients or their builders, design professionals, or architects to plan lighting for projects as small as a single room or as large an entire homestead or retail site. Using their descriptions, or their plans and architectural drawings, we plan both lighting techniques and lighting control methods.

Most, but not all, clients purchase some lighting product directly from us. (In addition to our own antique and custom product, we sell all the "name" designer lines, like Artemide®, and Venini®.) And frequently, our clients purchase at least some mass-market lighting product through catalogs and home centers. Since we know the market thoroughly, they often hire us to help them shop these sources.

After the lighting design-concept and the detail-design are complete, we provide design-documentation that leads to mistake-proof installations, then we work directly with clients' contractors and electricians to make sure that potential problems don't develop.
