New construction, residence/studios in Northfield Massachusetts

These clients are both working artists and sought some help lighting their enormous new studio and living space simply and economically. Our solution was to provide design and design-documentation primarily.

To reduce costs, we guided the clients in choosing some appropriate mass-market product from the most competitive vendors - catalogs and home centers. To provide style, we restored, rewired, and supplied gorgeous custom-made lampshades for some vintage and hand-me-down lighting product they already owned. And we helped them choose energy-efficient lamping, and energy-conserving lighting controls which we then supplied.

Client comment: "We knew in many ways what we wanted and didn't want in terms of style and function, but we lacked the technical knowledge to pull it off without making expensive mistakes or ending up unhappy in our new quarters.
